Good morning, my fellow Miamians 🦩

Breaking the regular schedule for this one because the deadline is Monday morning.

There's a federal proposal to move the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) out of the Department of Education and into Health and Human Services. OSERS is the office that enforces IDEA, IEPs, 504 plans, and every federal protection our kids rely on to stay in the classroom with their peers.

Moving it reframes special education from an education issue to a health services issue. That's not a small distinction. It's the same fight we've been having in every IEP meeting: whether our kids belong in the classroom or in a separate track. This proposal answers that question in the wrong direction.

A national coalition of parents, educators, and advocates is asking people to sign on in opposition. It only takes 60-seconds:
